Masayuki ‘Mochy’ Mochizuki Crowned Backgammon World Champion (Monte Carlo, 2009)

Venue for the 34th World Backgammon Championship (2009)

Japan’s Masayuki ‘Mochy’ Mochizuki (picture here) has recently won the Monte Carlo World Backgammon Championship sponsored by CasinoRip.com. Mochy beat the reigning champ Lars Trabolt (25 to 20) in the final last Sunday. The Championship was held at the five-star Monte Carlo Fairmont Hotel, and was played over one week.

The total prize fund for the Championship was €200,000 with Masayuki ‘Mochy’ Mochizuki taking the winner's cheque of €62,280.
